E. Smith, who was injured in a fall from a lumber pile at Stafford's factory died this morning at ten o'clock from the effects of his injuries. Death is thought to have resulted from a blood clot caused by the fall which injured his spine in such a manner that he was paralyzed and did not recover from that condition. He was thought to be improving and last night showed signs of being much better. This morning a telephone to his brother Eugene Smith brought the word that he took a turn for the worse and died in a very short time. He was 48 years of age and had been a resident of Ionia all his life. The funeral will take place Friday morning from the residence of his brother Eugene Smith, Lafayette street, at 10 o'clock. Burial in Oak Hill cemetery. Rev. E.E. Branch of the Baptist church will conduct the services.
