Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 17 & 22 Jul 1940

Mrs. Ella Mary Smith, widow of William Smith, died Tuesday evening at 10:55 p.m.
at her home on Cyrus street following a short illness with influenza.  She had
been in poor health for the past year.  For the past 21 years she had lived at
her present home.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Eva Miller of Ionia, Mrs. Minnie Stevens of
Lakeview and Mrs. Rose McDermott of Detroit, two sons, Barney Smith of Oaklawn,
Ill., and John Thalison of Ionia, and 27 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the
Boynton Funeral home, 221 Rich street.  Rev. John Youngs will officiate.

Funeral services were held from the Boynton funeral home, 221 Rich street,
Saturday afternoon, at 2:30 o’clock for Mrs. Ella Mary Smith, widow of William
Smith, who died Tuesday afternoon at her home on Cyrus street.  Rev. John Youngs
officiated at the services and interment was held at Oak Hill cemetery.

Bearers were Alfred Herbert, Charles Ogden, Floyd Elliott and John McDermott.

Relatives from out-of-town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Earnie
Stevens and Mrs. Nora Stevens of Lakeview, Barney Smith of Oaklawn, Ill., and
Mrs. Rose McDermott and Lucille, Gladys, Maxine, June and Robert McDermott, all
of Detroit.
