Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 4 & 5 Feb 1976

Mrs. Mary Jo Smith, 57, of Kalamazoo, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at
Kalamazoo.  She is the former Mary Jo Weisgerber of Ionia.  Funeral arrangements
will be announced later.

Mrs. Mary Jo Smith, 57, of Kalamazoo died Tuesday evening at Bronson Methodist
hospital after being a patient four weeks.  She was born in Ionia December 1,
1918, the daughter of William L. and Bernice Bradt Weisgerber.  She graduated
from Ionia high school with the class of 1936 and Grand Rapids junior college in
1938.

September 2, 1928, she was married to Vernon M. Smith of Ionia and he died in
1966.  She had made her home in Kalamazoo many years and she was employed by
Gilmore department store.

Among her survivors are a son, David Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two
daughters, Mrs. Elisabeth Johncock of Kalamazoo and Mrs. Jo Ann Samson of
Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William L. Weisgerber;
brother, William E. Weisgerber of Ionia.

Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the Truesdale funeral home in
downtown Kalamazoo.  The body will be returned to Ionia after services for
memorial and committal services Friday at 3 p.m. at the LeValley United
Methodist church.  Rev. M. Luther Brokaw will officiate and interment will be at
Tuttle cemetery.  A memorial fund has been established for the LeValley United
Methodist church and contributions may be left at the Leddick funeral home. 
Arrangements in Ionia were made by the Leddick funeral home.
