He was aged 82 years, and the faithful and wonderfully sprightly wife who survives him is quite as old. Mr. Smith, who had just finished milking and the other chores, sat down by stove for a rest. In an instant he spoke up, saying, “Ma, you need not bake any pancakes for me this morning, my stomach is hurting me,” and had barely uttered the sentence when he fell forward and died instantly. The manner of his death was a god send – attended by that degree of peace and freedom from pain and anguish which should have been his in the later years of his life. Decedent was once prosperous through his own tireless efforts, but had endured his full share of hard knocks the recent years, but always uncomplainingly. ------------ The funeral for Seneca Smith will be held at the home, 511 Morse street, at 2 tomorrow afternoon. Rev Dr. Cogshall will conduct the service. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in Highland Park Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/s/smith33648nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
