Carl B. Smith, 45, Passes Away At Hospital
Carl B. Smith, 45, of Corunna, a former Portland resident, died Sunday at the
Veterans Administration hospital inAnn Arbor.

Surviving are his wife, Susanna; three sons, David, Randall and Gregory; a daughter,
Jeannine; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith of Portland; three brothers,
Floyd, Elgin and Richard, all of Portland; to sisters, Mrs. Robert Goodman and Mrs. William
Simon, both of Portland.

Mr. Smith, who was employed by the State Dept. of Vocational education, served with
the Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific and held the rank of major.

Funeral was Wednesday morning at St. Paul's Church in Owosso and burial was in
Portland cemetery.
