Nov. 8, 1921 FUNERAL SATURDAY FOR PIONEER OF HUBBARDSTON The funeral for Jacob Smith was held from St.John's Catholic Church at Hubbardston Saturday morning. Mr. Smith went to Hubbardston in 1871 and during the following years was married to Miss Hufner, of Westphalia. Mr. Smith then operated a blacksmith shop here, but, like most blacksmiths, he felt that after shoeing horses for almost 40 years he had earned a rest, so he retired about 10 years ago. There are six children surviving-Jacob, Joseph and Matt, Mrs. Williams of Portland, Mrs. Wildes of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Keish of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were making plans to celebrate their golden jubilee next January. For the past three months their grandson, LaVerne Rogers, Has been residing with them. Rev. Fr. McCormick officiated at the Requiem mass.
