Willie Smith, 91 Dies at Hastings
Willie Smith, 91, retired farmer, passed away at Pennock Hospital, Hastings,
Saturday evening following a short illness. He had been hospitalized since August 18.

He was born April 30, 1881 at Sparta, son of Jonathan and Josephine (Andrus) Smith
and had lived in the lake Odessa area since a small child.

Mr. Smith married Eva J. Fox of Woodland in 1902 and she passed away in January of
1922. For many years he had resided with his daughter, Letha, at McLenithan's Lansing,
Jordan lake.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Agatha) Sawdy and Mrs. Norman (Vonda) 
McClellan of Woodland, and Mrs. Vern (Letha) Plant of Lake Odessa; ten grandchildren
and 25 great-grandchildren, also two step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:30 at Pickens Funeral Chapel, with burial
in lakeside cemetery. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiated.
