CHARLES (BUB) A. SMITH
Charles (Bub) A.Smith, age 80 of Ionia, MI passed away Dec. 8, 2016. He was born 
March 21, 1936 in Ronald Township, MI. the son of Charles L. and Helen (Johnson) 
Smith. On Nov. 11, 1986 in Hubbardston, MI Charles married Carol Cusack. He was 
a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. Charles retired as a semi driver and 
mechanic. He loved the outdoors, hunting, racing cars and archery.

Charles is survived by his wife Carol Smith of Ionia, MI; children, Lori (Denny) 
Herron of Florida, Terri (Dennis) Bisanz of Alabama, Cindy (Brian) McGraw of 
Waterford, MI, Tammey (Bob) Underhill of Grand Rapids, MI, Carla (Brian) Ford of 
Montague, MI, Charles "Chuck" Smith and Brenda Ritenburgh of Ionia, MI, and Mike 
(Brooke) Cusack of Muir, MI; sisters, Shirley Christenson of Palo, MI, Pam 
Perrella of Nevada, Pat (Bob) Roe of Ionia, MI, and Ruth (Max) Christensen of 
Grand Rapids, MI; brothers, Fred Sheaffer of Fenwick, MI; 19 grandchildren and 
14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Step-mother, Marie and great grandson, 
Brayden Elrod.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 11 AM at St John the Baptist 
Church in Hubbardston with father Joe Kenshol Celebrant. Interment St. John the 
Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Tuesday 
from 3-6 PM and at the church one hour prior to service. Those wishing may make
