FRANK SMITH 1932-2017
Frank D. Smith, aged 85, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on 
Sept. 20, 2017, at his home. Frank was born June 28, 1932 in Gratiot County, 
Michigan to Frank and Alma (Bendt) Smith.

Frank graduated from Lyons High School in 1950. In 1952 Frank proudly served 
in the United States Army. Upon returning form the Army, Frank married his 
high school sweetheart in 1956, Pauline Dennis. Together they would welcome a 
son, Kevin Smith, and a daughter, Lesa Smith Konecsni, to fulfill their 
lives.

Frank was a dedicated worker over the years to employers Nehi-Royal Crown 
Cola and John B. Rossi and Company. Frank enjoyed traveling over the years 
with his bride and together they ventured all over the United States, Canada 
and the Caribbean. He was a craftsman after retiring and spent many hours in 
his workshop enjoying making wooden crafts for Pauline to paint. He was proud 
to say he made 60 bird feeders over the years. Frank enjoyed his grandkids! 
He always had a smile on his face when they came to visit. They were all very 
special to him.

Frank is survived by his beautiful wife, Pauline (Dennis) Smith; sister, 
Shirley (Smith) Erridge; children, Kevin (Tracy) Smith, Lesa (Tom) Konecsni; 
grandchildren, Andrew (Kendra) Besser, Kirsten Smith, Nicholas Besser, 
Kennedy Smith, Brooke (Patrick) Covey, Troy Davis; great-grandchildren, Ava 
Besser, Suzannah Covey, Rosalie Covey, River Besser; and many nieces, 
nephews, brothers and sister-in-laws.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alma Smith.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept 23 at 
Lake Funeral Home, 3521 S. State Rd., Ionia, Mi 48846. Memorial contributions 
may  be made to friends and family of Cystic Fibrosis, 333 Bridge St. NW.
