AMY MARIE SMITH, 56
Amy Marie Smith, age 56, of Ionia, MI, passed away February 11, 2019.

She was born on June 6, 1962, at Ionia County Memorial Hospital, the only 
daughter of John and Thelma (McPherson) Strickling.

She met Bob (Robert) Smith at Ionia High School, they quickly became 
inseparable and married on October 3, 1980. Armed with razor sharp wit and 
humor she was always at the center of attention. It was hard to miss her 
vivacious laugh; which at times created her own unique little snort. She and 
special friend, Roy Staudenmeyer, would often entertain the audience at the 
Blue Water Cafe, in Ionia, MI.

Amy was very artistic. She graduated from the Kendall School of Art and 
design. She also studied abroad at the Royal School of design in London 
England. Much of her artwork was prominently displayed around her home. She 
loved Art and photography. She worked at the floral Building at the Ionia 
Fair while her health would allow. She loved her cats. Amy was passionate 
about many things, but none more than a lifelong friendship she shared with 
her bestie Roxann (Ross) Wiles.

Surviving are her brother Matt (Christine) Strickling of Florida, nieces 
Heather Strickling and Mallory Strickling, nephews John Strickling and 
Matthew Strickling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert and brother Mark 
Strickling.

Service will be held at a later date.
