Ionia Daily Sentinel - Mon. April 22, Tues, April 23, Fri. April 26, 1918

Jonathan T. Smith, aged 82 years, died yesterday at the home of his daughter 
Mrs. Jeannie Harris of Detroit. The body will arrive Tuesday at 11:9 and will be 
taken to the home of the son, Byron L. Smith on Lafayette street. The children 
left to mourn his death are Mrs. Jeannie Harris of Detroit, Mrs. Raymond of 
Belding, Eugene and Byron Smith of Ionia

The body of Jonathan T. Smith arrived at noon and was taken to the home of the 
son, Byron L. Smith, East Lafayette street. Funeral will be held there Thursday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E.E. Branch will officiate. Burial will be in 
Highland Park cemetery.

The funeral for Jonathan Smith was held Thursday from the residence of the son, 
Byron Smith, at two o'clock. Rev. E.E. Branch assisted by Rev. C.C. Backner, 
officiated. Mrs. G.M. Phelps and Mrs. Will Peck sang. The bearers were Geo. 
Rector, W.A. Woods, Mr. Tingley, Samuel Kelly and W.E Normington.
