Marlene Smith, 87
Marlene J. Smith, 87, of Saranac passed away April 6, 2020. She was born 
September 28, 1932, in Ionia the daughter of Kenneth and Beulah (Theisen) 
Harrington. Marlene married Floyd E. Smith Sept. 30, 1950, in Grand Rapids. 
He preceded her in death April 12, 2014.

Marlene worked for Michigan Bell as an operator, after retirement she loved 
teaching and watching her grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her family, 
and watching sports. Marlene had a heart of Gold and was loved by all.

She is survived by her daughters; Sharon (Craig) Adgate of Saranac, Roxanne 
Lichte of Lowell. Grandchildren; Becky (Tim) Sloan of Saranac, Jason Conner 
and Tara Fuller of Belding, Alisha (Jake) Johnson of Saranac, Ryan Adgate and 
Nikki Haskins of Saranac. Eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-
grandchildren also survive. Brothers: Doug (Diane) Harrington of Saranac and 
Kendall Harrington and Sally Cloud of Lowell. Sisters; Betty Lacic of Lowell 
and Sandra (Jerry) Cook of Belding.

Preceding her death are her parents, husband, son-in-law David Lichte, sister 
Virginia Mazurkiewicz and brother Charles Harrington.

Private services will be held for the family. Those wishing may make memorial 
contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice 750 Fuller Ave. NE Grand Rapids, MI.
