Excerpts from Lansing Obituary
Kenneth C. Smith of Portland
Died Sunday September 13, 2020-age 74
Born in Lansing, Mich. son of Elgin and Mable (Koelzer) Smith.
 Graduated Portland high School, class of 1964.
Joined the U.S. Marine Corp & served in the Vietnam War.
Ken worked for Electrical union #665, then to General Motors as an 
electrician.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing euchre & working on family projects in 
his garage and spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Norbert & Bertha Simon, & his 
sister, Elaine Miller.
Survived by his wife, of 49 years, Marie; children, Michael Smith, Karen 
Allerding, and Melissa Smith; grandchildren, Shyanne Zachrich, Martina Smith, 
Kenneth Allerding, Jarred Allerding, Jade Feld, and Zane Jones, 6 great-
grandchildren, siblings; Steve (Deborah) Smith, Doug (Connie) Smith, Kathy 
(Tom) Russman, Annette (John) Pohl, and Darrel Smith; many Simon brother and 
sister-in-laws. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber Friday at 
11:00 a.m. September 18, 2020 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Portland.
Visitation Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m at Lehman funeral Home, Portland.
