          ESTHER L. SMITH DIES AT IONIA
   A resident of the Ionia Manor the past year, Mrs. Esther L. Smith, 80, of Ionia,
died Friday evening.
   Born in Wood County, Ohio, Aug. 26, 1889 she was a daughter of William and Weltha
Thomas.  She married 
in Grand Rapids and they moved to Lake Odessa an then to Ionia in 1924.
   Her husband, Altie H. Smith, preceded her in death in 1960.  she is survived by
two daughters, Mrs. Roy 
Greenhoe and Mrs. Zola Anderson of Ionia; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren
and two great-great-
grandchildren.
   Services were held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday, March 24 at the Stone-Kauffman
Funeral Home in Ionia, with 
Rev. Lester Bailey officiating.  Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa.
