Jacob W. Smith Passed Away

Funeral services for Jacob W. Smith, 73, of Hastings and former Woodland 
resident; were held last Saturday at Hastings with burial in Woodland Memorial 
cemetery.

A native of Woodland, he was the son of John and Elizabeth Smith and graduated 
from the Woodland school in 1911. He with his wife the former Maybelle Bailey of 
Woodland, farmed in the Woodland area after their marriage until moving to 
Hastings in 1945. Mrs. Smith managed the Miller's Dairy Store for 12 years and 
Ms. Smith was also employed there. They retired in August of 1962.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, Richard of Hastings, Ronald and Robert of 
Charlotte and Raymond of Potterville; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; 
four brothers, Charles of Nashville, Orlo of Woodland, Kenneth of Lake Odessa 
and Calvin of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Anderson and Mrs. Agnes Rood, 
both of Lansing.
