WOODLAND  Mrs. Nettie Smith, 78, of 5598 North Velte Road, Woodland, died April 
1 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings.

She was born Sept. 13, 1902 in Orangeville Township, the daughter of James and 
Nettie Hermanette Faas. 

Mrs. Smith attended Orangeville Elementary and Hastings High School.

She married Orlo Smith, Feb. 8, 1922 in Hastings.

They lived in the Woodland area since 1925 and on their present farm for the 
last 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, Orlo; seven children, John J. Smith of Woodland, 
Mrs. Charles (Betty) Brecheisen of Belding, Mrs. Martin (Lynette) Hrebenar of 
Battle Creek, Mrs. Kenneth (Jacqueline) Dinda of Schoolcraft, Orlo J. Smith of 
Woodland, Jack J. Smith of Sunfield and Mrs. Douglas (Judith) MacKenzie of 
Woodland; 29 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held April 3 at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake 
Odessa with Rev. Timothy Rothfuss officiating.

Burial was in Woodland Memorial Park.
