Ivan E. Smith, age 82, of Ionia passed away January 16, 2004 at his home. He 
was born February 28, 1921 the son of George C. and Nellie (Atherton) Smith. 
He married Jeanette Ward May 12, 1942 in Matherton.

Ivan was a WWII Veteran who served in Italy. He was a member of Sheridan VFW 
and Ionia Moose Lodge. He retired from Gen Corp in Ionia.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years Jeanette Smith of Ionia; 
son Duane and Judith Smith of Ionia; daughters Patricia and Phillip 
Smith “Wagner” of Ionia, Cheryl and Howard Hirschman of Ionia, Phyllis Smith 
of Ionia; brother Melvin and Agnes Smith of Barryton; several grandchildren 
and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Easton Cemetery with 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. 
Anyone wishing may make memorial contribution to Ionia Area Hospice.
