GEORGE SMITH PASSED AWAY FEB. 24. One of Woodbury's Well Known, Women, Mother ofRaymond Smith of This Village After a long period of illness Mrs.George Smith of Woodbury passed away at her home last Friday. On account of her long residence in that village and her Christian usefulness she was as well known as any woman in the vicinity. She will be greatly missed especially by her family, her neighbors and relatives. She was a patient sufferer through the trying years of her illness. She was the mother of Raymond C. Smith of South Bros., Velte & Co. here, and the wife of the manager of the elevator at Woodbury owned by the same company. OBITUARY Mrs. Louise Christine Smith, nee Reiser, was born in Woodland, Mich., July 13,1864, and departed this life February 24, 1933, in Woodbury, Mich. In her infancy her Godly parents brought her to the Lord Jesus in holy baptism and later provided the necessary religious training under the guidance of the sainted Rev. C. Adams, and on April 27, 1879, she was confirmed in a class of nine young Christians confessing her faith in the Triune God. On the 6th day of January 1892, she was united in holy wedlock to Mr.George Smith of Woodbury, and for about seven years they resided on a farm one mile west of the village and when Mr.Smith took over the management of the local elevator they moved into Woodbury where they since lived. Two children were born to this union, one son and one daughter, who survive the mother. For the last seven years the deceased sister was afflicted with shaking palsy and in addition to this she had the misfortune of falling and breaking her hip, May 17 1921 which left her in a helpless condition for the remainder of her days. January 18, 1933. she was stricken with apoplexy and later developed pneumonia which resulted in her death Friday evening Feb. 24, Her age amounts o 68 years, seven months and 11 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her bereaved husband Mr.George Smith her son Raymond Smith of Lake Odessa, and daughter Hilda at home; two grandchildren, Raymond C.Jr., and Charles Bruce Smith; one sister, Miss Anna Reiser of Woodland; three brothers, Franklin and George Reiser of Lake Odessa, and John Reiser of Woodland, and a large circle of more distant relatives and friends. Burial services were held last Sunday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., at her late home and 2 o'clock at the U.B. Church in Woodbury. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Officiating ministers were Rev. Edw. Nest, Rev.J. Riebel and Rev. R.H. Pfeiffer. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our thanks to all our relatives and friends for the kindness and sympathy shown us during our recent bereavement.
