SMITH PASSES AWAY Wilbur H. Smith, 78, of route 2, Lake Odessa, was found dead at his home Sunday morning by his daughter, Mrs Ruth Gilliland of East Lansing, who had come to spend the day with her father. Coroner Dale Kauffman said death was from natural causes. A native of Sandwich, Ill., he was a graduate of the high school and had attended the University of Illinois, both at Sandwich. He married Vashti Irwin, February 3, 1915, and they moved to the Lake Odessa area from Lamont, Iowa, in 1916. Mrs.smith passed away in September of 1946 two sons also preceded him. Mr.Smith was a member of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges and the Clarksville Conservation club. Surviving besides the daughter are two granddaughters; four great grandchildren and a brother, Stanley of Sun City, Ariz. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Rev. Wilbur Williams officiated with burial in the Lakeside cemetery.
