Lake Odessa Wave - April 29, 1981
          HAROLD E. SMITH

   Harold E. Smith, 78, of New Carlisle, O. - formerly of Lake Odessa - died April
21 at the Community Hospital 
in Springfield, O.

   Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on April 24 from the Lakeside Cemetery in
Lake Odessa with the 
Rev. Willard H. Curtis officiating.

   Mr. Smith was born in Sunfield Township on March 3, 1903, the son of Henry and
Ida (Botdorf) Smith.

   He attended Sunfield area schools.  He was employed as a toolmaker for 28 years
with the Clark Equipment 
Company in Battle Creek until his retirement in 1965.

   He was previously with the Lentz Table Company of Nashville, Mich. and the
Nashville Creamery.

  He lived in Lake Odessa, Nashville, Hastings and moved to Carlisle in 1972.

  He is survived by one son, Wendell of Hastings; two grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by three wives, the former Zelma Hastings, Neva Pierce
and Leora Fredricks.

   He was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

   Memorials may be given to Pennock Hospital in Hastings.  Arrangements were made
by the Leonard-
Osgood and Wren Funeral Home in Hastings.
