Smith, 77, of 5468 Palmer Road, Belding, died Friday at Belding Christian Nursing Home. He was born May 6, 1911, in Ionia, the son of Vernie and Lillian Zimmerman Smith. He is survived by his wife, Emaline; two daughters, Wanita Smith of Belding and Mrs. Arnold (Judith) Batchelder of Orleans; two granddaughters and one great granddaughter; a sister, Maxine Lake of Ionia; and two brothers, Alden Smith and Wayne Smith, both of Ionia. Funeral services from the Orleans Methodist Church will be announced. Arrangements are being made by Huffman Funeral Home." 2) 12-27-1988: "BELDING - Memorial services for Gerald D. Smith, 77, of 5468 Palmer Road, Belding, who died Friday, will be held May 6, 1989 at the Orleans Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orleans Methodist Church. Smith, who died Dec., 1988, on Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at the Orleans United Methodist Church. Smith, who was 77, lived on Palmer Road in Belding and is survived by his wife, Emaline. He was born in Ionia on May 5, 1911, the son of Vernie and Lillian (Zimmerman) Smith. Also surviving him are two daughters: Wanita Smith of Belding and Mrs. Arnold (Judith) Batchelder of Orleans. One sister, Maxine Lake, formerly of Ionia, and two brothers; Alden Smith and Wayne Smith, both of Ionia. Two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter also survive him. Margaret Seidelman will officiate at the memorial service. Memorial contributions to the Orleans United Methodist Church may be made. Envelopes will be available at the service."
