At the age of twenty-one she was married to Mr.Andrew Smith. To them were born three children; Nellie, Harvey and Willie. Little Harvey died at the age of two years and two months. Mr. Smith having died about nine years ago. Mrs.Smith removed to Odessa, Ionia county, Michigan where she lived until she departed this life. She was converted and baptized in early life, but like many others departed from God.She was troubled and found no peace until she returned to her loving Father, who says;"I will heal their back sliding, I will love them freely" It was the privilege of the writer to visit her many times during her sickness. She always enjoyed having prayer and often, while we were singing "I Have Anchored My Soul in the Haven of Rest," would clap her hands and shout, "O, Glory! Praise God!" Although disease had worn out the earthly house, her trust in God remained firm.In her last moments with us, heaven opened before her, and looking up, she said:"Oh, I see the tree of life; how bright, bright." The deceased died at the home of her brother, in Odessa, July 31, 1898, aged forty-three years, one months and twenty-one days. She leaves an aged mother, one brother, one sister, and two children to mourn their loss. A large number of friends followed her to her last resting place. Funeral services held in the Lake Odessa M.E.Church. Opening prayer by the pastor, sermon by Mrs.E.A. Hart. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the may friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted during the sickness and death of our beloved mother. Mrs. Nellie Smith, Mr.Willie Smith.
