          HASTINGS WOMAN DIES UNNEXPECTEDLY

   Funeral serivces for Mrs. Harold Smith of Hastings were held Saturday at the
Pickens Funeral Chapel with 
burial in Lakeside cemetery. Re. Doriene Speas of Hastings officiated.

   Mrs. Smith passed away unnexpectedly at her home at Hastings early Wednesday
morning. The former 
Neva Wells, she had spent most of her life in the local area. Her parents were W. R.
and Cassie Wells of 
Woodbury.

   Neva married Carl Pierce in 1917 and he passed away in 1954 while residing here.
July 23, 1955 she married 
Harold Smith and they moved to Hastings, January 28, 1956.

   Surviving are her husband Harold; a daughter Mrs. Roland (Iris) Reid and a son
Viverne Pierce of Lake 
Odessa; a stepson Wendell Smith of Hastings; a sister Mrs. George (Bessie) Geisel of
Lake Odessa; a brother 
Irol Wells of Woodbury,, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
