Portland Review
Isadore J. Smith, 87, of 532 Divine Hwy., Portland, died on Jan. 12, 1989 in a 
Lansing Hospital.  Mr. Smith was born on Feb. 1, 1901, in Westphalia, the son of 
Nicholas and Helena Smith.  He was a retired farmer and also retired from 
General Motors.

Surviving are his wife, Elenora (Nora); four sons, Donald of Laingsburg, Ronald 
of Portland, Thomas of Grand Ledge and David of Lyons; one daughter, Kathleen 
Smith of Portland; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  He was 
preceded in death by two sons, Ernest and Daniel, and by three brothers, Ernest, 
John, and Julius.

Rosary was recited jan. 14 and 15 at Neller Funeral Home, Portland.  Funeral 
Mass was Jan. 16 at St. Patrick’s Church with the rev. Thomas Boufford 
officiating.  Interment was in portland Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Mark, Scott, 
Joe and Steve Smith, Dave Hunt, and Ed Osenga.  A memorial for the Parkinson’s 
Disease Foundation has been established, in care of the funeral home.
