                               ARTIE SMITH

SARANAC - Artie Smith, 66, f 203 South Parsonage, Saranac, died Monday in 
Greenville Hospital extended care unit.

He was born Aug. 4, 1918 to Alvin and Myrtle (Tinsley) Smith.

He retired from universal Metal Products in 1977 after 20 years of employment 
there.

He married Clara Hickman in October 1946.

He is survived by his wife, his sons; Ronald of Chicago, Alvin and Martin of 
Saranac; daughters; Norma Kamradt of Arizona, Mrs.David (Marlene) Courter, 
Mrs.Daniel (Brenda) Townsend, Miss Cristine Smith, all of Saranac; a brother; 
James Reed of Indiana; sisters; Mrs.Guy (Freda) Passmore of Indiana, Mrs.John 
(Mary) Mihaljevic of Chicago; 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac, with the Rev. Edwin Mendenhall of Saranac Community Church officiating.

Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to Saranac Little League.
