Excerpts from Lansing Obituary

JEAN MARGARET SMITH

Died Tuesday, December 10, 2024-age 101 at Holt, Ingham Co. MI.
Born March 1923 at Ionia,MI.daughter of John T & Gertrude M. Sherwood.
Jean spent her professional life as a hair dresser and was owner /operator of 
the Bon Ton Beauty Shop in Lansing's South side, specializing in older styles.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking & volunteering for various organizations, such as 
Lansing Theatre Organ and Meals on Wheels.
She was charming, creative, loving, and a fun person to be with.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband August E.Smith, and brothers John & 
Vernor Sherwood.
Survived by one son, Scott S.Smith of Lansing, other relatives Phyllis Ann 
Fletcher of Florida & Donald Sherwood, Linda Wesley & Tim Wesley of Tenn.,plus 
friends.
Contributions may be made to Lansing Theatre Organ, Capitol Area Humane Society 
or Greater Lansing Food Bank.
Services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024.
Visitation at 10:00a.m., funeral at 11:00a.m. at Palmer Bush & Jensen Funeral
