The Ionia Standard, Friday, July 9, 1897
Mrs. Ambrose G. Smith died at 3:15 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon after a long 
and severe sickness at her home on the State road.  The funeral was held on 
Friday morning at ten o’clock and interment was in Highland park.  Deceased 
was one of those truly good women who are sincerely mourned at death.  She was 
aged 49 years.  She was a kind neighbor, a true mother, a consistent believer 
in the Christ and the mission of his church.  Besides the husband, the others 
of the bereaved family are the five children: Mrs. Charles Christie, Mrs. Roy 
Grover, Miss Mable, Herbert and Lucetta.

Mrs. Smith was one of the charter members of Ionia hive of the L.O.T.M., of 
which body she was a generally beloved member.
