Charles W. Smith, 71, died Thursday morning in Detroit where he had lived with his 
daughter, Ruth, for the past six years. 

Prior to that he owned and operated a farm in Ionia township for many years.

Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Ann and Nettie Smith and Mrs. Mary Hyland, all 
of Detroit; and a brother, Robert, of Ionia.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Myers funeral home with the

Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery at the 
side of his wife.
