The Carson City Gazette, Friday, January 16, 1914
Fillmore G. Smith was born March 12, 1830 at Attica, New York.  When he was 
about nineteen years of age the family moved to the town of Granger, Allegany 
county, new York.  He was united in marriage to Maria Howorth October, 1851.  
They removed to Michigan in 1854 where one child was born to them, George T.  
His wife died September 25, 1900, and he passed away January 1, 1914, aged 83 
years, 9 months and 19 days.

Funeral services were held at the Palo M. E. church January 3, the pastor, 
Rev. H. A. Crumb, officiating, and his remains laid to rest beside his wife in 
the Palo cemetery.
