The Ionia County News, Thursday, January 23, 1941
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Smith, 74, died at the Ionia Community hospital at 8:15 
Thursday morning, January 23. About ten days ago Mrs. Smith suffered a stroke 
at her home, 336 Johnson street, where she has resided for many years.

She was born in Chaltham, Ontario, Canada, February 15, 1867, the daughter of 
Mrs. and Mrs. Clayton Overstreet.  When she was 18 years old she came to 
Owosso, Michigan and nine years later was united in marriage with Peyton 
Smith.  They moved from Owosso to Albion where Mr. Smith died in 1902.  Since 
the death of her husband, Mrs. Smith has made her home in Ionia.  She is 
survived by one daughter, Charlotte, Ionia.

Funeral will be from the Stone Funeral home at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, with 
burial in Highland Park cemetery.
