The Lake Odessa Wave – 30 December 1971
Mrs. Cynthia A. Smith, 87, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Clark Memorial 
Home at Grand Rapids where she had resided since March 1963.  

She was born in Odessa township May 24, 1884, daughter of Eth Albert and Nancy 
(Lauden) DeVinney.  She was employed by Ingham County Hospital for 21 years 
and following her retirement came to Lake Odessa and resided here until going 
to Clark Home.  July 29, 1925 she married Robert Smith and he passed away 
January 5, 1929.  She was a member of Central United Methodist church and WSCS 
of the church.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lyle (Lucille) Buxton of Charlotte and one 
step-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held on Friday at three o’clock at Pickens Funeral 
Chapel with Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiating.  Burial was in Lakeside 
cemetery.
