Ruth A. (Cummings) Smith aged 91 of Lyons passed away Wednesday, January 4, 
2006 in Ionia. She was born January 26, 1914 in Ionia the daughter of Stanley 
Melvin and Zada (Sheldon) Foote. She married Robert Lloyd Cummings Sr. in 
1932, he preceded her in death January 15, 1974. She went on to marry Carl 
Smith in 1988 who preceded her in death in 1995. Ruth worked at the Chrysler 
Trim Plant in Lyons as a sewer until retiring in 1974. She was a member of 
Lyons Muir Church and a Life member of Lyons VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved 
crafts, needlework, bingo, cards and gardening.

Ruth is survived by her son Phillip and Jane Cummings of Lansing, daughter, 
Doris A. Randall of Lyons; daughter-in-laws, Clarice Cummings of Ionia, Nancy 
Cummings of Mountain Home Arkansas; step children Alice Alcorn, Alfred Smith, 
Alan Smith; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great 
grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, 
Robert Cummings Jr., William Cummings; grandsons, Benjamin Randall, Daniel 
Cummings; brother Stanley Foote; sister, Beulah Mickelson and one son-in-law 
Gary Randall.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday at Lyons-Muir Church with Rev. 
Burt Nelson officiating. Interment Orleans Cemetery. The family will receive 
friends and relatives Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Lake 
Funeral Home in Muir. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in Ruth's 
name to Lyons-Muir Fire and Rescue 212 Water St. Lyons, MI 48851.
