The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, February 19, 1960


Funeral service for Ward Smith, 54, 1903 West Riverside drive, who died 
February 16 at Ionia County Memorial hospital was conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. 
at Phelps funeral chapel.  The Rev. Paul Knaak of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist 
church officiated.  Interment was at Saranac cemetery.

Bearers were Burr Smith, Ottis Smith, Howard Smith, Jake Smith, Clarence Wood 
and Fred Scheaffer.

Attending from out of town were Elmer Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. 
and Mrs. Richard Smith of Long Beach, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith of 
Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Smith and family of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. 
Clarence Wood and family of Lansing, Ottis Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith 
and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Sterzick and family, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dean 
and family; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Dean, Mr. and Mrs. 
William Dena, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dean and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sheid of 
Saranac; Mr. and Mrs. George Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. 
Russell Fletcher, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Woodmansee and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence 
Scheaffer of Muir; Mr. and Mrs. Murl Dorey of Belding, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon 
Pickett of Fowler.
