The Ionia County News, Thursday, December 21, 1944


Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Saturday afternoon for 
George Smith, who passed away at the home of his cousin, Mrs. Clare Wright, 
Wednesday morning at the age of 89 years.  Mr. Smith had spent most of his 
life in this vicinity and had been confined to his bed for many months at the 
home of his cousin, which had been his home for several years and where he had 
been given the best of care during his illness.

Services were conducted by Rev. Lewis Herrick with burial in Palo cemetery by 
the side of his wife and son who passed away several years ago.
