Carson City Gazette, 29 Dec 1899

R. K. Smith, whose death was mentioned in last week’s issue, was for many years
a respected citizen of this place.  His funeral occurred Thursday, and was
attended by the G. A. R. of which he was a valued member.  Mr. Smith had been a
member of the Free Baptist Church for nearly sixty years, and Rev. F. Simmons of
Carson City officiated at the solemn obsequies.  Besides his aged widow, one
son, Dr. Erwin F. Smith, of Washington, D. C., survives him.  He was 72 years
old, and was a native of New York State.
