Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 31 May 1950

Louis M. Smoot, 69, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at Belding City hospital after being
admitted Monday morning following a stroke.  He was taken ill Sunday.  He was
born in Kansas July 16, 1880.  He lived in Saranac for a time where he owned and
operated a farm before retiring.  He moved to 121 Water street, Belding, in 1936
and was employed as a salesman.  He married Inez Wiggins of Belding in April, 1936.

Surviving are the wife and one half brother, William Hamilton of Coffeeville, Kas.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Fitzjohn funeral home. 
The Rev. Lester Clough will officiate.  Interment will be in Alton cemetery near
Lowell.
