He had been ailing about six months and was severely sick for about three months. Deceased was born April 7, 1831 in Steuben County, N. Y. and came with his parents to Ionia County in 1840. He was married to Miss Elmira Kellogg, a sister of the late Shiverick Kellogg, Jan. 1852. Three children were born to them: Victoria E. (deceased), Orson T. of Easton, and Watson C. of this city. His wife died in 1890 and for several years deceased has made his home with his sons. Mr. Snell was a good type of the hardy, neighborly and honest pioneer character, holding the respect, confidence and good will of his neighbors by an upright life filled with good deeds for others.
