The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, May 24, 2007
John Snell (raised in Ionia, Michigan) passed away peacefully in the early 
hours of Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Veterans Hospital in West Los Angeles, 
California. He was born July 8, 1946, the son of Richard and Signora Snell. 

A 1964 graduate of Ionia High School, he attended Grand Rapids Junior College 
and Western Michigan University where he received a BA in marketing. Mr. Snell 
was a Fire Direction Officer in the Field Artillery of the United States Army 
during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. He settled 
in California in 1972 and has lived in Ventura for the last 15 years where he 
was a general contractor and kitchen designer.  John's passion for cooking was 
appreciated by his friends and clients. His hobbies included tennis, 
photography and guitar. He was a member of the Pierpoint Racquet Club where he 
played tennis and practiced yoga. 

Mr. Snell is survived by his brother David, nieces Cassandra Snell and 
Samantha Bos, and great-niece Breanna Cutler. Memorials may be made to the 
Thymoma Cancer Research Fund.
