Ionia Sentinel, 18 Mar 1974

Mrs. Alice Snyder, 79, formerly of route 3, Parmeter road, died Sunday morning 
at Ionia Manor where she had been a patient several months.  Born June 4, 1894, 
in Ionia she was the daughter of William and Jessie Birkett Steele and lived 
her entire life in the Ionia area.  February 4, 1914, she married Lloyd E. 
Snyder at Ionia Church of Christ.  They celebrated their golden wedding 
anniversary in 1964.  He died November 20, 1972.  She was a member of the First 
Christian church, Pioneer Farm Bureau group, Pleasant Hill society and Ronald 
grange.

Among her survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Ransom of rural Ionia; three 
grandchildren; brother, Arthur Steele of Portsmouth, Va; three sisters, Mrs. 
Marie Mulnix of Lyons, Mrs. Doris Smith of Sheridan and Mrs. Edna Verdrage of 
Otsego.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Christian church.  Rev. 
Roger Gifford will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  
Family will be at the Leddick funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial has been established for the First 
Christian church of Ionia.
