V. Snyder were held at the residence of W.R. Menkee Tuesday afternoon, with interment in the Otisco cemetery. Rev. A.O. Carman, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated. A number of weeks ago Mr. Snyder went to Ann Arbor in hopes that treatment there might be beneficial to him but it proved fruitless, returning from there Friday, he passed away Sunday morning. He was born in Wilton, Saratoga Co., N.Y., Dec. 14, 1837 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.R. Menkee of Belding, Oct. 29, 1899. He moved with his parents to Michigan fifty years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary C. Spicer Jan. 27, 1861, who passed from this life just four months before his death. Seven children were born to them, five of whom are living. The brothers and sisters of Mr. Snyder have preeceded him in death but his aged father still survives to mourn his loss. Mr. Snyder has well earned the distinction of being one of the pioneers of this vicinity. Most of his years have been spent on the farm near Otisco but about thirteen years ago he moved into Belding. His health has been failing rapidly since the loss of his wife.
