Excerpts from Greenville Obituary

SANDY R. SNYDER 

Died Friday January 16, 2026-age 85 of Greenville.
Born July 3, 1940 n Ionia to Rayborn & Bernita (White) Mason.
Sandy worked as a long-term care nurse at the Belding Christian Nursing Home 
from 1983 until 2005.
She was awarded a scholarship from the nursing home to attend Montcalm Community 
College, where she attended the LPN program, graduating with an Associate degree 
in nursing.
Her grandchildren found a sense of calmness & stability in her.
Sandy loved baking Christmas cookies & making freezer jam. Simple days were 
spent working on crossword puzzles & cuddling with her special feline companion, 
Jenny the cat.
In the Spring of 2025, she moved in with her son Josh in Greenville, where he he 
helped her with her needs.
Survived by her children, Bonnie (Dwight) DeRooy of Grand Rapids, Wendy (Matt) 
Smith of Ohio, & Joshua Snyder of Greenville; grandchildren, Amanda, Tara, Jake 
Brenna, Charlie, Ryan, Shireen, Jordan, Brianna, Alexandria & ten great-grand 
children.
Preceded in death by her parents, sons, Chris & Joe Snyder; siblings, Glen 
Mason, Stan Mason & Peggy Mason & the father of her children W.Ralph Snyder Jr.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Interim Hospice & the nurses & 
aides who cared for Sandy in her final days.
A Memorial visitation will take place on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 2:00-
4:00 PM at the Johnson Feuerstein Funeral Home with a time to share memories 
taking place at 2:30 PM.
