The Portland Observer, Thursday, March 12, 1914
Mrs. Sylvia Snyder, widow of the late Benj. Snyder, died last Friday at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. G. A. Blye, near Lansing, at the age of 86 years, 
she having been born in Wayne county, N.Y., January 5, 1828.  Her maiden name 
was Sylvia Lumbert.  Until 1880 she made her home with her son, George A. 
Snyder of Portland, although she had resided with her daughter near Lansing 
for the past three years.  She was a pure Christian woman, identifying herself 
with the united Brethren church in an early day.  

Five children, Mrs. Josephine Lampman of Howell, Mrs. H. Warren and George A. 
Snyder of Portland, Mrs. G. A. Blye of Lansing, and Mrs. H. Ingraham of Danby 
survive.  The remains were brought to Portland at noon Monday and funeral 
services were conducted at 1:30 at the U. B. church by Revs. Harwood and 
Millard.  Interment in Portland cemetery.
