Carl Eugene Snyder, of Portland, age 68, passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007. 

He was born on Nov. 15, 1939 in St. Johns, the son of Wavel and Lucile 
(Graham) Snyder. Carl enjoyed spending time outdoors including hunting, 
fishing, camping and riding snowmobiles. He retired from the Portland Public 
Schools as a groundskeeper. 

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one 
grandson and one great-grandson.

Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Helen; children, Diane (Bill) 
Graham of Lyons, Jr. (Brenda) Thayer of Belding, Chris (Rose) Thayer of Lyons 
and Belinda (Randy) James of Sheridan; 12 loving grandchildren; many loving 
great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack Darling of Ovid, Edna Faylor of Fowler, 
Betty Rowley of Ionia, Delores Brunk of Stanton, John Snyder of Belding, Tom 
Snyder of Ionia and Bill Snyder of Middleville and numerous nieces and 
nephews; with a special thank you to Bruce, John, Diane, Bill and 
grandchildren Brett and Dia. 

Cremation has taken place according to family wishes. Contributions may be 
made to the American Cancer Society in Carl's name.
