The Ionia County News, Thursday, July 8, 1949

Mrs. Phoebe Fuller Summers, 92, died two weeks ago at her home in La Verne, 
California, and funeral service was held Monday, June 28, with burial beside 
her husband, Charles Somers, in the family lot in Pomona, California cemetery.

She was born in Lynn, Wisconsin, January 13, 1856, and lived in Pewamo for 
many years where Mr. Fuller operated a hardware store.  She moved to 
California 31 years ago.  Mr. Somers, a Southern California citrus grower, and 
building contractor, died in 1925.  

Surviving her is a daughter, Mrs. Carl Mangold of Jackson; a cousin, Mrs. 
Nettie Lane, who lived in the Somers home and several nieces and nephews.  A 
sister-in-law of Warden Fuller, Mrs. Somers was matron at the Reformatory 
during the time he was warden.
