Sept. 23, 1971 Mrs. Cevilla Souder, 72, was found dead at her home at 635 Second St. on Saturday. Coroner Dale Kauffman of Ionia was called and stated that death was due to natural causes. She was born in Odessa township, January 30, 1899, the daughter of John and Ella (Elliott) Herbert. She was a 1918 graduate of lake Odessa high school and attended Ionia county Normal and taught school for several years. Mrs. Souder was employed as a house mother in three different children's homes for several years, and was a local correspondent for the Ionia Sentinel-Standard. She had lived in the Nashvile-Hastings area for 20 years before moving to lake Odessa about six months ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Arlyn (Patricia) Newhouse of Clyde, Ohio and Mrs. Eugene (Delores) Cousins of Onondago; one son, ElDean Souder of Hazel Park, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Pickens Funeral Chapel Tuesday at 1:30. Rev. Charles R. Dunbar officiated with burial in Lakeside cemetery.
