The Portland Review, November 8, 1910

Joseph Soughders, 77 years of age, who has been a resident of Portland nearly 
all his life, was stricken with apoplexy at the home of his son, John 
Soughders, at about 6:00 o’clock Sunday morning and death occurred at about 
12:00.  Mr. Soughders had got up to build a fire and was found lying on the 
porch unconscious a few moments afterward.  He was a veteran of the civil war, 
and is survived by four children: Mrs. Jay Arnold, Mulliken; Will Soughders, 
Milan, Ind.; Mrs. Will Russell and John Soughders, Portland.  He is survived 
also by one brothers, Jacob, of Kalamazoo.

Funeral services are too be held at the home of John Soughders this afternoon 
at 2:00 and burial will be made in Portland cemetery.
