Death of Mrs. L.B. Soule.

Our citizens will be pained to learn of the death of Mrs. L.B. Soule, wife of
attorney Soule, and one of Ionia’s oldest and most respected pioneers.

Her death occurred on Saturday, resulting from an attack of pneumonia.  The
funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ Monday afternoon at 2
o’clock, conducted by Rev. W.H. Scott, and the interment will be made in
Highland Park cemetery.  A more extended notice of her life will be given in a
future issue.

Mrs. L.B. Soule was born in Fairfield, Herkimer county, N.Y., May 14, 1829, and
was therefore 61 years and 10 months old at the time of her death.  On September
14, 1853, she was married to L.B. Soule and removed to Michigan in September
1857.  She became a christian in 1852 and was one of the earliest members of the
Church of Christ in this city, being baptized by the Rev. Mr. Errett.  She has
been a consistent christian, a faithful wife and loving mother.  Her loss will
be deeply felt by the community at large, but by none so much as the aged
husband to whom the sincere sympathy of all is extended.

An impressive funeral sermon was preached by Rev. W.H. Scott from Psalms 116
chap., 15 verse.

Unidentified Publication 

Cause of Mrs. Soule’s Death.

Editor of the Sentinel – I see by Saturday’s Sentinel that the reporter gave the
cause of Mrs. Soule’s death “pneumonia.”  This is not true.  She died from acute
hepatitis (inflammation of the liver), following chronic hyperemia of that
organ, coupled with a rapid and irritable heart. – A.B. Grant.
