Soule Served Michigan for Forty Years James N. Soule, known at the "Veteran Keeper", of the Michigan reformatory, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Cushing, 1090 West main street, Saturday evening. Mr. Soule, who was better known to the officers and inmates of the Michigan reformatory as "Uncle Jimmie", resigned from the position which he held at the institution February 14, 1921. Except for a few years under the Parsell wardenship, Mr. Soule was in the employ of the state from 1878, and at the time of his resignation in 1921 he had given 40 years of service to the state of Michigan. Mrs. Soule died six years ago Monday, on February 7, 1921. Mr. Soule is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles Cushing, and two grandsons, James Cushing, of Lansing, and Louis Cushing, who is in the South. The funeral service will be held from the residence , 1090 West Main street. Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Alfred Trenerry will officiate. Burial will be made at Oak Hill cemetery beside his wife.
