Aged Resident Died Thursday

George South, Aged 79, Passed Away At His Home On The North Hill.

The funeral of George South, age 79, who passed away at his home in this 
village last Thursday evening, was held Monday.  Rev. J.M. Bancroft 
officiating.  Burial was made in the Portland cemetery.

Mr. South was born near Cambridge, England, and there he married Miss Anne 
Fuller 52 years ago.  They came to Portland 40 years ago, where Mr. South’s 
brother, Robert Fuller, had located.  The Fullers returned to England after a 
few years, but Mr. and Mrs. South remained here.

Mr. South lived on a farm southwest of Portland and moved to his home on the 
north hill a few years ago.  He had been in ill health for some time and was 
confined to the bed for about five months.  Mrs. South passed away eight years 
ago and a year later, Mrs. Nellie Hickman, of England, a relative, came from 
England to look after the household affairs.
