The Portland Observer, January 23, 1930

Funeral rites were held Sunday for Henry Southwell, former Sebewa township 
resident, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Campbell, in 
Sunfield, last Friday.

Mr. Southwell was born in Livingston county, New York, 82 years ago.  He came 
to Michigan when a boy, and for a number of years conducted a blacksmith shop 
in Sebewa.  He was a veteran of the Civil war.

Services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Campbell, Rev. J. H. 
Stewart, of Portland, officiating.  Burial was in Sebewa cemetery.
